01. Overview & Commitment

LocalAlpha ("we," "us," or "our") operates the LocalAlpha fundamental monitoring service at https://localalpha.io. We are committed to protecting the privacy, security, and confidentiality of our users ("you" or "investor").

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you access our platform, how we use and safeguard that data, and your rights regarding your personal information. 02. Information We Collect

We collect information only to the extent necessary to provide you with autonomous thesis tracking, intrinsic value calculations, and email notification alerts. We collect the following categories of data:

Account & Authentication Data

When you register directly or sign in via Google OAuth, we collect your email address, full name, and encrypted password hash (for credential signups) or OAuth profile identifiers.

Watchlists & Thesis Data

We store the stock tickers you track, custom valuation assumptions (e.g. WACC, discount rates), private investment thesis notes, and mathematical rule thresholds (e.g. ROIC > 15%).

Notification Settings

We collect your alert delivery preferences (instant alerts, daily digest) and custom SMTP configuration if you elect to provide your own email server credentials.

Usage & Performance Telemetry

We collect anonymized device telemetry, error reports (via Sentry), and usage events (via PostHog) to identify bugs, monitor platform reliability, and measure traffic sources.

03. Google API Services User Data Policy Compliance

LocalAlpha allows you to authenticate securely using your Google Account via Google Sign-In. When you sign in with Google, we request access only to your basic profile information (openid, email, profile).

Limited Use Disclosure:

LocalAlpha's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

  • No Selling of User Data: We never sell, rent, monetize, or trade your personal or Google user data to data brokers or third parties.
  • No Advertising Use: We do not use Google user data to serve advertisements, build ad profiles, or retarget users.
  • No Generalized AI Model Training: We do not use your private portfolio data, watchlist items, or Google account information to train generalized machine learning models.

04. How We Use Your Information

We process your data strictly to perform the following platform operations:

  • To create, authenticate, and maintain your LocalAlpha user account.
  • To execute automated 15-minute background scanning of SEC filings against your custom thesis rules.
  • To deliver real-time email alerts when a tracked fundamental rule breaches your threshold.
  • To calculate and render institutional Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) fair values and 5-year financial models.
  • To troubleshoot server-side issues, monitor system uptime, and prevent fraudulent abuse.

05. Third-Party Service Providers

We integrate with trusted third-party cloud infrastructure providers solely to support platform functionality:

  • Hosting & Compute: Cloud server infrastructure and containerized workers.
  • Financial Data Providers: SEC EDGAR for public filings, Financial Modeling Prep (FMP) and Yahoo Finance for audited financial statements and market prices.
  • Email Delivery: Resend API or your designated custom SMTP server for transactional thesis alert delivery.
  • Diagnostics & Analytics: Sentry for real-time error logging and PostHog for privacy-respecting telemetry.

06. Security, Retention & Data Deletion

We implement industry-standard encryption protocols (TLS/HTTPS in transit and secure database storage) to safeguard your account. Passwords are never stored in plaintext and are hashed using bcrypt.

Data Deletion Rights: You have the right to request permanent deletion of your account, watchlists, and all associated personal data at any time. To request account termination and full data deletion, simply send an email from your registered address to support@localalpha.io. We will purge your account and database records within 48 business hours.

07. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect updates in our service, regulatory requirements, or Google API policy modifications. When changes are made, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
